The CE Mark (officially CE Marking) is a mandatory conformity mark on many products placed on the single market in the European Economic Area (EEA). The term initially used was "EC Mark" and it was officially replaced by "CE Marking" in the Directive 93/68/EEC in 1993. By affixing the CE Marking, the manufacturer, its authorized representative, or person placing the product on the market or putting it into service asserts that the item meets all the essential requirements of all applicable EU directives and that the applicable conformity assessment procedures have been applied. The CE Marking is a mandatory European marking for certain product groups to indicate
conformity with the essential health and safety requirements set out in European
Directives. To permit the use of the CE Marking on a product, proof that the item
meets the relevant requirements must be documented. For some products this can only
be achieved by using an external test house which evaluates the product and its documentation,
however, in about 90% of cases it can be achieved by a self certification process.
Notified Bodies In those few cases where CE Self Certification is not allowed without third party testing we can arrange that testing and assessment/audit of the product and premises. We have contact with all of the EU Notified Bodies and hundreds of approved certification testing centres around the world and can assure the best price by the simple expedient of getting quotes for your product from several providers. It is very important to search like this for the best quote as once you have sent
your application you are not permitted to change to a different testing provider
or Notified Body. The EU does not permit that a CE Certification Body can accept
your application if you have already sent that same application to another body.
Develop new EU markets more easily When your products carry the CE Marking you will find that importers, distributors and sales agents will be easier to appoint as they do not have to deal with complex compliance regulations. They will not want to get involved with product certification which requires complex professional expertise. They will probably excel in marketing and sales, but are they equipped in handling regulatory and legal issues? Consultation Where does CE marking apply? |
